Psychological Consultation Services

 

 

Colleen O’Brien MA. C. Psych. 

Is a psychologist, registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and the Newfoundland and Labrador Psychology Board, and authorized for autonomous practice in the areas of adult clinical and forensic | correctional psychology. 

With over 15 years of experience in the provision of psychological services, Ms. O’Brien’s expertise is in the diagnosis and treatment of psychological disorders, the provision of forensic services, and working with law enforcement and emergency responders toward the prevention and management of the experience of trauma in the workplace. 

Her research interests are in the areas of intrafamilial violence and attachment.

Psychological Services

Psychological assessments are detailed and structured evaluations of a person’s current functioning through the assessment of intellectual ability, memory, social, behavioural and personality development. A comprehensive assessment can identify and inform diagnosis of psychological and neurodevelopmental disorders in adults (18+).

Treatment refers to the use of evidence based psychological methods to address the symptoms of depression, anxiety or other psychological disorders. Therapy is also helpful for individuals who wish to address negative thoughts, break unwanted habits, learn new skills to regulate emotion and deepen interpersonal relationships.

Consultation services include liaison with law enforcement agencies and front line responders for the provision of trauma informed assessment, crisis intervention, and supportive mental health strategies for trauma exposed personnel.
